Mosaic Community Care, in partnership with Westcare, invites disability sector professionals to attend the second instalment of The Possibilities Forum.
This is an in‑person event for people working across disability services who want practical information, seek shared learning, and form stronger connections across the sector.
The forum brings together practitioners, leaders, and experts to spotlight complex and evolving sector changes and challenges, with a focus on real‑world experience and everyday practice.
What is the forum about?
The Possibilities Forum is a guided conversation about current challenges and changes in the disability sector.
Through structured discussions, the forum will explore how people working in disability services can better support participants, families, and organisations in a complex and ever-evolving system.
This forum will focus on two key areas that often raise questions and challenges.
Fireside chat 1 | Conversations we avoid: supporting participants with relationships, consent, and sexual wellbeing
Explore how to navigate sensitive conversations with confidence while balancing duty of care, dignity of risk, and participant rights. Join Alison Kelly, CEO of Sexual Health Quarters (SHQ), for good practice insights on supporting participants with relationships, intimacy, consent, and personal choice.
This topic will explore:
- How to respond when participants ask questions about relationships, intimacy, and sexual wellbeing
- Understanding consent, decision-making, and participant rights
- Balancing risk management with dignity of choice and independence
- When and how to connect participants with appropriate specialist services
Fireside chat 2 | Trauma-informed support for participants in disability accommodation
Experiences of trauma can influence how people experience safety, relationships, trust, choice and control. Join Amanda Paton, Deputy Director Practice – Australian Centre for Child Protection at Adelaide University and Clinical Psychologist, for a practical discussion about what trauma-informed practice means and what it looks like in everyday Supported Independent Living (SIL) support.
This topic will explore:
- What trauma-informed practice is, and what it is not.
- What trauma-informed support looks like in SIL, including safety, trust, choice, predictability and positive support relationships.
- How a trauma-informed lens can help us understand and respond to distress and behaviours of concern.
Both conversations will include examples from real practice and will allow time for audience questions and shared discussion.

Fireside chat 1 | Conversations we avoid: supporting participants with relationships, consent, and sexual wellbeing
Alison Kelly, Chief Executive Officer, Sexual Health Quarter (SHQ)
Alison Kelly is the CEO of Sexual Health Quarters and a registered Occupational Therapist with over 30 years’ experience across the health, disability, academic and primary healthcare sectors. She is a values-driven leader with extensive experience in government-funded and highly regulated environments and has led large, multidisciplinary teams with a focus on clarity, care, and purpose.
Alison is committed to advancing sexual health and wellbeing outcomes, strengthening access to inclusive, high-quality services and supporting collaborative care to respond to the diverse needs of the wider community.
She is a strong advocate for individual choice in healthcare and for ensuring access to evidence – based, high-quality information to support informed decision-making.
Rob Wilton, Chief Executive Officer, Mosaic Community Care
Rob is very widely qualified and has expertise in leadership, finance, governance, human resources, workplace safety and health and project management. His experience includes executive positions in the commercial sector, Government and not for profits and a range of leadership and operational roles in the military.
Within the not-for-profit sector, he has held positions as CEO of the Westcare Group, Director at Parkerville Children and Youth Care and Chief Operations Officer at St Bart’s. Rob is a passionate advocate for people living with disability, youth at risk, veterans and those experiencing homelessness, and is currently a Non-Executive Director at Swan Care Inc and Community Vision Inc.
Fireside chat 2 | Trauma-informed support for participants in disability accommodation
Amanda Paton, Deputy Director Practice – Australian Centre for Child Protection, Adelaide University
Amanda Paton is a Clinical Psychologist, Deputy Director Practice at the Australian Centre for Child Protection at Adelaide University, Program Director Child Trauma, and President of Westcare. She has more than 20 years’ experience working across the community services sector with government and non-government agencies, with particular expertise in complex trauma, safeguarding, clinical governance and improving service responses for people experiencing vulnerability.
Amanda has led and contributed to major national and state initiatives focused on strengthening practice, workforce capability and organisational responses to abuse and trauma. Her work spans clinical practice, service and policy development, research-to-practice translation, and advising organisations and governments on safe and effective service systems.
Kim Adamson, Chief Operations Officer, Mosaic Community Care
Kim Adamson has over 15 years’ experience in the community services and disability sector. She has led large teams and managed quality, risk, and accreditation programs across disability, aged care and out-of-home care. Kim holds an MBA from the Australian Institute of Management WA (AIMWA) and has built and improved systems for major organisations and supported staff through operational change and review processes.
Her work includes guiding teams through audits and accreditation for standards, including the Out of Home Care Standards, National Principles of Child Safe Organisations, National Disability Standards, National Standards for Mental Health Services, and NDIS Practice Standards and Aged Care Standards. Kim is passionate about contributing to organisations who serve our communities, ensuring customer-focused service delivery, and driving financial sustainability through innovative solutions.
