More than a house,
more than a bedroom.
At Mosaic, we help people with disability aged 18 years or over to secure the home, housemates and 24/7 support they need to live actively, independently and safely in the community.
We’ve been providing fully supported accommodation for people living with disability since 1992. Today we have supported independent living homes across Perth, from tidy one-bedroom homes to spacious seven-bedroom homes.
We're not only concerned with finding you somewhere to live. We want to help you live your best life, with the support you need for greater independence.
The right home and support,
today and into the future.
Mosaic helps you find the right home in the right location; with the right housemates, the right support options, and easy access to everything you need.
If one of our existing NDIS supported independent living (SIL) homes doesn't work for you, or if it does today but doesn't meet your support needs down the track, we'll work with you to create a solution suitable for your unique needs.
We have an extensive range of supported disability accommodation options across Perth. Take a look at our map to see where they are located - the green markers represent current vacancies. Or, contact our team to enquire about Supported Independent Living vacancies.

I wasn’t sure, I had no idea how the NDIS worked. But I knew it was going to be helpful to me. Since I met Seb, I have gained the insight of his support, consistency, commitment and belief and how it has given me the hope to recover and improve my quality of life, to immerse back into society. After being alone for 20 years I hope to meet a suitable companion, with the ideal of re-entering the workforce. I now feel that my life is moving in the direction it needs to in order for me to maintain my physical, emotional, and mental health.
Frequently asked questions
- How do you ensure the housemates in Mosaic’s Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes are compatible?
Before you move into one of our Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes, we make sure the home and any potential housemates are the right fit for you… and them.
The first step is to find out about you: Your support needs, what you enjoy doing, and things like your age and gender. This helps us work out who you may like to live with.
We then show you some potential homes that might suit you. If you are interested, we will then organise times for you to meet the housemates, often over afternoon tea or a meal. You’re in control throughout this process.
- What’s involved in finding a Supported Independent Living home to suit me?
If you’re interested in supported independent living services with Mosaic, the first step is to fill out our referral form. We welcome referrals from Support Coordinators, disability support professionals, agencies, guardians, family members and those who live with disability. Mosaic’s referral form is straightforward to fill in, and you can reach out to our friendly team for any questions along the way.
Once we receive your referral form:
- Our team will reach out to you to talk it through and schedule an initial meeting so we can get to know you. We will then look for a vacancy that ensures you are compatible with the home and the housemates.
- You get to visit the home and meet your Home and Community Leader, who will be a touchstone for your time with Mosaic.
You will also meet the current housemates and then can take as much time as you need to consider before you confirm your decision. The final steps are to sign a service agreement and move into your new home.
- What do I need to pay for and what will be covered by my NDIS funding?
To live in one of our Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes, you need to have National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funding or equivalent for 24/7 support.
Funding for Supported Independent Living covers the cost of support staff only. A regular fixed Board and Lodgings payment covers your food, rent, communal furniture, and house maintenance. Other living expenses such as your own furniture, medications, and personal items such as clothing are up to you.
- Can I get Supported Independent Living supports from Mosaic in my own home?
Yes! Mosaic can provide daytime and/or overnight support to help you with your needs, whether that is in your own home, a shared living space, an independent living unit (ILU), specialist disability accommodation (SDA), short-term accommodation (STA) or through a Mosaic SIL home.
- What are the eligibility requirements for Supported Independent Living at Mosaic?
To be eligible for SIL with Mosaic, you must be an NDIS participant with eligible funding. Specifically, you will need to be over 18 years old and have NDIS SIL funding or other equivalent funding.
- Do I need to bring my own furniture?
You can bring your own furniture for your bedroom if you like. Your room is your own space, which means you can furnish it and decorate it however you want. The rest of the Mosaic home is furnished.
- Do I need to move in full-time straight away?
No. If you’re not ready to move in full-time straight away, Mosaic offers short-term accommodation (STA) options. Using STA for a while can be helpful to get you to adjusted to Supported Independent Living, while you transition full-time into your new home.
- Can I keep my existing support services?
Yes. You can keep using any existing support services such as Therapy or Community Access that you have with other providers. You can also choose to engage with Mosaic services should you wish. We suggest you talk this over with your Support Coordinator, family or guardian.
- SIL funding vs SDA funding – what do they cover?
Funding from the NDIS for Supported Independent Living covers the cost of your support staff to assist you with daily tasks and activities.
NDIS plan funding for SDA covers your accommodation (the physical home) if you have specialist housing needs. SDA is typically for people with complex disabilities. However, one does not cancel out the other – you can still receive SIL support while living in an SDA home, as they fund different areas.
