Last week, Mosaic client, Bradley celebrated no ordinary 57th birthday.

Bradley’s life changed in 2019 when he was diagnosed with early onset dementia. He now lives in an aged care facility, and spends most of his day in bed. Although they continue to spend much time together, living apart isn’t easy for Bradley and his wife (and childhood sweetheart) Julie.

Julie wanted to make sure that Bradley’s 57th Birthday was extra special.

Following a successful practice-run, on the day Bradley joined other residents in the dining room, where they sang happy birthday to him, and he cut the cake! This is significant for Bradley, as he finds it overwhelming being with others in the dining room. He then joined his family in the quiet room for lunch. This was a big day for Bradley but was worth it!

Bradley has received a functional assessment from Mosaic’s occupational therapist and is awaiting NDIS funding for a new wheelchair. Bradley’s new set of wheels will assist him to get out around the facility more; interact with other residents and ultimately improve his quality of life.
