Australian of the Year 2022, Dylan Alcott AO took some time to chat with our staff who attended a lunch on Thursday 18 August.
Disability Support Worker, Jay has been a huge fan of Dylan’s throughout his tennis career and it was a dream come true for him to meet one of his idols.
Dylan was born with a tumour wrapped around his spinal cord, but that hasn’t stopped him becoming one of Australia’s best known and successful sportpeople and media personalities.
The tumour was cut out when he was a couple of days old, and as a result, Dylan has been in a wheelchair his entire life.
Dylan’s wide ranging speech covered the obstacles and self hate he had to overcome as a result of his disability and how he recently became the first male in history, in any form of tennis, to win the Golden Slam.
Thank you Dylan.
