September is Dementia Awareness Month and Monday, 21 September is World Alzheimer’s Day. This year’s theme Together we can ensure no one faces dementia alone highlights the need for all Western Australians to reach out to people with dementia in their community to let them know they are not alone.
Below is an example of how we support Linda, provided by her daughter, Kylie.
What difference has Mosaic made in your mum’s life? Mosaic have been amazing in supporting our mum in living an independent life. They support her socially, emotionally and physically.
How does it feel for your mum to be supported by Mosaic? It has allowed us (her children) to feel less pressure knowing that mum is well cared for in a safe and friendly environment. She continues to live a more independent life, enjoying social outings and visits in her home by her family and loved ones.
Anything interesting you’d like to share about your mum’s background to how she moved into her Mosaic supported independent living home? Our family stumbled across Mosaic after being frustrated by the options presented to us. Basically, we were told the only option was an aged care facility. We knew this was not the right environment for our mum. We eventually found an amazing support coordinator who was willing to investigate other options. She found mums accommodation for us. Once we inspected the home, we knew we had found something special and that was suitable for her. We are truly grateful for the support and care mum is receiving.
